Metrologic MS2200 series StratosS is a 5-sided, 360 bi-optic scanner that optimizes high-volume checkout with an aggressive first pass read rate. Engineered with an advanced scanning architecture, it creates a dense scanning zone in both horizontal and vertical plane with 5,400 scan lines per second. The optimized powerful decoding software enables StratosS to read as small as 5mil bar codes, while enhance performance on poorly printed or damaged bar codes greatly.  In one word, StratosS is the real "checkout master" for hypermarkets.

Compared to competitor products, StratosS has a more compact size and ergonomic design. The vertical and horizontal scanning modules are independently designed to maintain productivity and uptime, and lower the cost of service. Multiple-interface allow for quick and easy migration to a new POS system. The free equipped StratosSCHOOLoperator training software improves productivity and promotes safer scanning techniques.

MS2200 series StratosS has 3 models available:

  • November 21-23 2006, the 13th Scan-China tradeshow was opened in Beijing, China.  Known as the most successful show in China Auto-ID industry, Metrologic attended it with its full  product line, including the coming-soon RFID products and mini 2D imager engine.

With a fresh look and professional display, Metrologic booth was in the spotlight throughout the 3-day exhibition.  By categorizing the whole product line into Retail, Industrial, Healthcare and Logistics 4 areas, the visitors gained a better understanding of the products' application. The small conveyor belt simulating the airport automated baggage handling system lively demonstrated to visitors how the baggage in the airports are sorted to each destination without human tracking.

As the 3rd largest bar code scanner manufacturer in the world, Metrologic since middle of 2006 has launched Optimus series mobile computers broadening its product line. To promote the selling of these new products in Thailand, Metrologic gave a sales and techcnial training on Dec 7th in Bangkok.

5 key partners of Metrologic Thailand had attended this training. A detailed introduction of Optimus PDT was made including daily operation, wireless connection, markets and application and technical programming. The attendees actively participated in the hands-on session and also made constructive suggestions to the products. All these valuable input will be integrated into Metrologic future launched mobile computers.

Since July 2005 Metrologic announced being a certified supplier of Tesco, the 3rd largest retailer in the world, it has successfully supplied Tesco with up to 5500 units of the StratosH 6-sided, 360 bi-optic, scanner/scale and 1300 units of StratosS, 5-sided,360° bi-optic scanner/scale.

Tesco is well known for its harsh requirement for product quality and checkout efficiency. The selection of Metrologic is the result of efforts undertaken between Metrologic and Tesco to evaluate the benefits of bi-optic scanning in Tesco's checkout environment. The Stratos scanners have provided Tesco with a solution which leverages the productivity and benefits of its new "Simpler Checkout" notion -- a more effective and efficient "Scan and Pack" operation. With no more twisting and turning from operators, the Stratos provides 360 scanning capability which allows the operator to simply pass the product across the scanner in one smooth movement from one hand to another, bringing faster throughput and enabling the operator to pack the goods directly into the carrier bag while selecting the next item to be scanned.

Another requirement of Tesco is that the scanner must be able to be integrated with scale in order to achieve "weighing" and "checkout" in one stop. This is the best way to reduce cost and achieve efficiency. Stratos can integrate with various scale brands like Mettle Toledo, Avery and Teraoka and totally comply with the standard of local regulating bodies. It further demonstrates Metrologic's ability to bring cost effective solutions with real business benefits to the world's leading retail organizations.

Metrologic and Fujitsu Formed Strategic Alliance

In October 2006, Metrologic Instruments and Fujitsu Transaction Solutions Inc. announced to enter into an international strategic alliance for bar code scanning products. Under the terms of the agreement, Fujitsu Transaction Solutions will incorporate Metrologic's bar code scanning products with their TeamPoS point-of-sale (POS) solutions throughout North America and U-Scan self-checkout solutions worldwide. Fujitsu will also provide service plans for Metrologic's family of POS scanning devices, including the StratosH bi-optic scanner.

Metrologic's highly reliable and competitively priced scanners are a natural fit with Fujitsu's philosophy of relentless cost reduction for customers. The two company's products are mutually complementary to each other, and the expanded relationship will provide retailers the best combination of quality and value in the industry.

About the configuration of Metrologic Scanners

1)Q. How to configure Metrologic Scanners?
    A. You can use MetroSelect Configuration Manual included in each scanner package, OR MetroSet2 application software which can be download from Metrologic website. When choosing MetroSelect manual, you just need to scan the corresponding configuration bar codes. When choosing MetroSet2, you need a RS232 communication cable to connect with a PC.

    2) Q. What functions can I achieve using MetroSelect or MetroSet2?
    A. Configuring with MetroSelect or MetroSet2, you can set communication parameter, enable/disable bar code symbology, format bar code data and upgrade scanner firmware etc.

    3) Q. what do I need to note when I use MetroSelect?
    A. when using MetroSelect, you just need to scan the corresponding configuration bar codes. Codes with "*" ahead means factory default setting. Most configuration can be done with a single scan. However if there is"~"before the codes, it means multiple scan needed -- you will at first need to scan" Enter/Exit Configuration Mode" first, after the proper configuration, at last scan" Enter/Exit Configuration Mode" again.
